Junior Optimist

of the JOOI Club of Academy Prep, St. Petersburg, Florida

Hi, I am Angelica Oliver, the Secretary of Academy Prep Junior Optimist Club. I am going to talk about some things we did in Junior Optimist over the last few months.
We did quite a few things over this time. One of the most successful was a bake sale fundraiser which Patrice will tell you more about later.
Another thing we did was give elderly recycled christmas cards and sing Christmas carols for them. We really got a positive response from them as well as the nursing home staff.
Something that we are currently working on is giving homeless people a supply bag with basic toiletries such as soap, tooth brush, razor, etc.
Some of the ideas that we have had for future projects are:
• Do a fundraiser to donate money for the Cancer Fund for Children.
• Raise monies to donate for local homeless shelters and soup kitchens.
• Provide tutoring for young children in need of academic help.
These ideas among others are some of the things that you can look forward to from your Junior Optimist Club.
We also hope to raise monies to take a trip to the Junior Optimist meeting at the ocala Hilton in April.
